Welcome!

Welcome to my Blog, I created it to provide a creative outlet for myself and a documentation of my money saving ideas and research that just might help others. I call it “Domestic Savvy” as I plan to incorporate many aspects of frugal living. I get a high out of saving my family money because when I do it means we can get more out of a dollar. I started trying and researching many ways to save money years ago and some things worked out for me and others haven’t. I am continuously searching for other ways to improve. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Getting fit at work

I was rocking it at the gym on the daily before I got hit with Hand foot and mouth, now I'm still kinda hurting and also low on time. Trying to find exercises I can do here at work. One of the things I have been doing is every time I go to the restroom (which is single stall so there's no chance of anyone walking in on me while I'm doing something embarrassing) is breaking out some toning and strengthening moves. I don't do reps, but simply do as many as I can or hold as long as I can until I start to shake, feel that prana as they say in yoga. Some things I have done is; -Wall pushes (push on the wall as hard as you can with your whole body) -Plank -Crunches (if the room is big enough and the floor is clean enough obviously) -lunges -squats -Push ups -Side Planks -small punches from side to side (I plant my feet and form fists and twist side to side from my midsection to feel this move in my abs) At my desk:  -Plant hands beside my body and lif...

Update

It's been a long time since I last wrote, luckily I have very few readers to apologize to ;) So what's new... well the garden is looking great, I just discovered that butternut squash produce very beautiful large yellow flowers. The ducks are just about full size now and that is just in time for the start of my new hobby of furniture restoration. A friend introduced me the the most inspiring site for this; http://betterafter.blogspot.com/. This site showcases furniture, decorations, and rooms that have all been redone and brought back to life. Why do I love this so much? Because it's green, it's cost effective and it's domestically savy! *Photos to come of my "better after" items. My two cents about furniture restoration; Sprucing up something you already own, free furniture, cheap furniture from a yard sale is a great way to recycle and also keep you from buying an unsturdy piece of furniture from a large corporation store which will inevitably break. I found my old blog!

Wow, 8 years later and I am stumbling here upon my old blog. So much has changed. I am no longer a stay at home mom for one although I wish I was. I have a at times stressful director roll at a large non-profit company and wishing I could find my way back to simpler living. I am divorced and living in a much smaller, but much more affordable home. If I could go back and give my younger self some advice it would have been to do the same and stop worrying about constantly renovating. It does nothing but cause debt, stress and hardly any turn around in a bad housing market. I think this blog is going to be a turn around from what it was and chronicle my way back to Domestic Savvy-ness. Over the years I went from the frugal coupon queen to dropping dollars like it's hot. With not much to show for it either. Who knows if I will ever be able to leave my current job, it's secure, flexible at times, I love all the people, I feel at home there and it provides for more money than I nee...
